Student Visa & the Graduate Route
- Student Visa Fee£524 currently, rising to £558 from 8 April 2026, per GOV.UK's Home Office fee schedule.
- Immigration Health Surcharge£776 per year of your visa, paid in full at application, gives access to NHS care.
- Part-Time WorkUp to 20 hours per week during term time on a standard Student visa.
- Graduate Route Fee£937 plus IHS at £1,035/year, unsponsored, any job, any salary, self-employment permitted.
Graduate Route shortens to 18 months
Following the May 2025 Immigration White Paper, amendments confirmed in Parliament mean the standard (non-PhD) Graduate visa reduces from 2 years to 18 months for applications made on or after 1 January 2027. Applications made by 31 December 2026 still get the full 2 years. Timing your application matters.
PhD graduates keep 3 years
The reduction applies to non-PhD graduates only. Doctoral Graduate Route duration is unchanged.
